Why this list exists
UPF 50+ means the fabric lets through at most a fiftieth of the ultraviolet that reaches it. On a tight synthetic knit that rating holds when the shirt is wet, which is why the swim shirts and the hiking tops are made of much the same cloth.
Colour matters less than weave. A thin white cotton tee blocks far less than a dark, dense polyester one, and neither is what these are.
